BIFA announces longlist in Best Documentary category

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) announced October 26 the 14 films that are longlisted in the Best Documentary category. Ten of the 14 documentaries are directed or co-directed by women and non-binary filmmakers. The final five nominations will be announced on Wednesday 3 November. Winners will be revealed at the BIFA ceremony on Sunday 5 December.

 

The longlisted documentaries are:

  • I Am Belmaya by Sue Carpenter, Belmaya Nepali (prod: Christopher Hird)
  • Keyboard Fantasies by Posy Dixon (prod: Liv Proctor)
  • Misha and the Wolves by Sam Hobkinson (Poppy Dixon, Al Morrow, Matt Wells, Jurgen Buedts, Gregory Zalcman)
  • Poly Styrene: I am a Cliché Paul Sng, Celeste Bell (prod: Zoë Howe, Rebecca Mark-Lawson, Matthew Silverman, Daria Nitsche)
