DOC FORWARD is a project-driven co-production talent workshop for emerging Nordic documentary producers and directors. The focus is on new talent and nationally established directors with ambitions to go into international partnership with both new and more established producers. Application deadline of November 22.
DOC FORWARD is a 2-part workshop programme focused on project development for the international market, establishing contacts with Nordic colleagues, and networking between the participants and the Nordic financiers from film institutes and public broadcasters.
Guided by experienced Nordic film professionals the workshop seeks to create an informal atmosphere where knowledge is shared as the projects are developed, leading to constructive discussions, feedback and new contacts, say organisers. The main tutor of the workshop is Mikael Opstrup.
The first part of the workshop will be held 31 January – 3 February 2022 in Helsinki with the possibility to stay for DocPoint Helsinki International Documentary Film Festival. The second part will take place in late spring, concluding with the projects pitching to Nordic film commissioners and commissioning editors from film Institutes and broadcasters, followed by individual meetings.
The 2-part structure will allow participants to develop and fine-tune their projects between the workshop sessions, say organisers. During the 3 months between the first and second workshop the project teams will stay in contact with the main workshop tutor, who will provide ongoing consultation on any aspect of their project development.
