In 2024, a new award will be presented among the 40 selected teams pitching their film projects at DOK.forum Marketplace.
The ICON DOCS Award is sponsored by ICON DOCS, the documentary brand of Bavaria Fiction, “which stands for high-quality documentary productions for the German and international market,” write organisers. The selected project will receive 1,000 euros as well as mentoring services.
BY+QC DOC CoPro
After the success of the first two editions of the international training programme BY+QC DOC CoPro in collaboration with Forum RIDM, the industry platform of the Montreal International Documentary Festival, Munich DOK.forum is once again offering one emerging director/producer duo with a film project in development and one experienced producer the opportunity to initiate co-productions on both sides of the Atlantic. The participants from Quebec who will take part in the various activities of DOK.forum Marketplace this year: Widia Larivière, director, and Frédérique Alain, producer of the film project INDIGIGEEKS STRIKE BACK!, and the experienced producer Line Sander Edege from TAK Films Inc.
Industry Training Talks
The festival’s Industry Training Talks, offered in cooperation with Documentary Campus and Bayerischer Rundfunk, will this year examine the role of media libraries and the transformative effect of artificial intelligence for documentary storytelling, among other topics. “We will navigate ethical considerations, unlock narrative potential and explore cutting-edge AI technologies. The initiative offers you a unique opportunity for first-hand interaction with leading experts in the field,” organisers underline.
The 39th DOK.Fest Munich runs onsite May 1 – 12 and online May 6 – 20. The German film Watching You – The World of Palantir and Alex Karp opens the festival.
