AJD Industry Days has put out a call for projects for its 4th edition, which will take place September 13-15 in Sarajevo. Applicants are invited to submit documentary projects in development, pre-production and production, as well as at rough-cut stage.
“Industry Days is a forum dedicated to supporting the expansion of documentaries worldwide, including international co-productions, and aims to match key decision-makers with interesting and valuable projects,” organisers write.
The call for projects is exclusively for documentary filmmakers and producers from the Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region or documentary projects dealing with topics related to these areas.
AJD Industry Days invites applicants to submit their projects via Submit a Project Form at industry.ajbdoc.ba, where more information about the application process can be obtained. The deadline for submission is 31 May 2025.
Project submission is free of charge and successful projects will be notified of the results by the end of July 2025.
Candidates will apply for the following sections:
- MAIN PITCH – accepting all stages of project development and production by independent filmmakers and production companies
- ROUGH CUT – projects in the final stages of production, intended for broadcast on Al Jazeera or other international broadcasters and platforms
- BALKANS PITCH – Specially invited projects suitable for regional and international co-production with Al Jazeera Balkans, Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, and other broadcasters
“Accepted project owners will be informed accordingly and invited to present their projects on-site in Sarajevo to this year’s board of international broadcasters and prominent professionals that will decide on the winners who will obtain funding for documentary production and support for their broadcast, distribution, screening, and sales worldwide,” organisers write.
The total prize fund provided by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Al Jazeera Balkans and all project partners in previous years has been around 100,000 USD. A comparable prize fund will be allocated this year, organisers add.
