You gotta be kidding!

The three-part RealYoung doc programme has put out the call for six projects (three in development and three at pitch stage) aimed at young audiences.

The programme comprises a pre-workshop module in mid-February 2021, development; presentations and networking in March and online consultations in Autumn 2021.

RealYoung is an initiative of Swedish youth forum M:Brane, Danish doc training specialists Paradiddle Pictures and IDFA as project selector and workshop participant.

“RealYoung is helping creators bring their real-life stories aimed at younger audiences to the next level,” says M:brane director Lennart Ström on the programme site. “The initiative brings together creators, funders, distributors, publishers and a panel of the target audience – the children. We do not develop documentaries for kids and youth. We develop together with them. Join RealYoung to get direct feedback from your target audience, if you dare to hear their direct and honest opinion.”

He adds: “We will encourage, challenge and inspire creators, funders, brands, publishers and others targeting youth audiences: let us together develop real life stories aimed at the platforms where children watch, engage, share and interact.”

The site further stresses that idea of the programme is “to enhance the real life stories that can help shape the next generation and make young audiences enhance their sense of being critical citizens, better understand the global society, navigate the complex digital media landscape, raise their understanding of other cultures and Grow their entrepreneurial and leadership potential.”
