Organisers of the 10th Verzió DocLab have put out a final call for applications to their event running 8–12 November 2025 at the Central European University Budapest Campus. Submissions are invited for first or second feature-length documentary projects from directors, editors and producers.
The application deadline is 31 July 2025.
Verzió DocLab, part of the festival’s DocPro industry platform, focuses on story development and editing, offering emerging European documentary filmmakers the opportunity to strengthen their projects with the guidance of experienced mentors: Brigid O’Shea, Inka Achté, Anna Kis and Flóra Erdélyi, who “personally accompany” the development of the projects throughout the workshop.
The program culminates in a public pitch, where participants present their projects to a panel of industry professionals in decision-making positions, followed by tailored one-on-one meetings for in-depth feedback and networking.
Verzió DocLab will award prizes to selected projects, with contributions from key industry partners, including HBO and Focusfox. Further details will be announced soon.
Verzió DocLab is part of the DOC AROUND EUROPE network, in co-operation with FIPADOC, DOK.fest München, DocsBarcelona, MakeDox, and Biografilm. In 2025, guest festivals Porto/Post/Doc and DocPoint Helsinki will join the collaboration, “expanding the reach and diversity of the initiative,” write organisers.
Filmmakers from the following countries are invited to apply: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey.
In solidarity with filmmakers from Ukraine and Georgia, Verzió DocLab also welcomes applications from these countries.
