The 18th Verzió Film Festival closed doors on its in-person program on Sunday November 14. During the closing ceremony, the juries presented three awards and three special mentions. The festival will continue online this week, with all of the films and related discussions available via Verzió’s online platform.
Additionally, the winning documentaries from the Hungarian and Student & Debut Competitions will be free to watch. The films will be available to rent until 21 November.
The Hungarian festival took place in Budapest, Kecskemét, Pécs, Debrecen, Szombathely and Szeged. Many of the 64 films screened from 35 countries premiered in Hungary at Verzió. After a year away from the cinema, Verzió audiences could return in person, resulting in several sold-out screenings, festival organisers say. Over 40 international guests also attended the festival.

Best Hungarian Film Award
Colors of Tobi (Hungary, d. Alexa Bakony) Special Mentions: I Still Remember (d. Flóra Chilton), Tales from the Prison Cell(d. Ábel Visky). For the first time the Best Hungarian Film Award, valued at €1000, was sponsored by the City of Budapest.
Audience Award

Verzió FF continues online this week with all of the films and recorded festival discussions available at Verzió’s online platform. While the Hungarian and Student & Debut films are free to watch, all other films can be streamed either individually or as part of a thematic passes. The list of non-geoblocked films is also accessible on the online platform. Films can be streamed until 21 November.
