2020 Docu Talent Award winner announced

The Ukrainian doc project Elevation, directed by Max Rudenko and produced by Ksenia Gapchenko picked won the $5000 Docu Talents from the East prize, granted by Current Time TV.


The jury citation reads: “Max Rudenko’s inspiring Ukrainian story Elevation has been chosen as the winning presentation for Docu Talents From the East, receiving $5000 USD granted by Current Time TV. The director’s light-hearted approach and his subject’s quest to overcome fear and self-doubt are both relevant and universal, particularly in these troubled times. The film also has strong international crossover appeal with its powerful characters and themes, as well as a visual focus on landscape and environmental motifs. The film’s log-line – the story of a ski jumper who didn’t know how to land – is something everyone can relate to.”

Docu Talents from the East was presented as part of CineLink Industry Days at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The programme has been curated by the Ji.hlava IDFF for the past 15 years and serves as a launchpad for documentaries from the region.
