Al Jazeera Balkans International Documentary Film Festival has put out the call to makers and production companies to submit their films for the fifth edition of the festival, which will take place in Sarajevo 9-13 September 2022. The AJB DOC Film Festival is organized by the TV broadcaster Al Jazeera Balkans in cooperation with Al Jazeera Media Network and Al Jazeera Media Institute in Doha.
AJB DOC will focus on documentaries intended for TV broadcasting. The submission deadline is May 25.
“The Festival aims to promote authors and documentaries which address various social phenomena, while taking an honest approach in dealing with profound topics and portraying real-life stories,” says the AJB DOC statement.
Submissions for the fifth edition of the AJB DOC Film Festival can be made on the website www.ajbdoc.ba (submit-a-film) or through the Film Freeway platform.
Submissions are welcome from all territories. One of the main criteria is a TV documentary format with a minimum duration of 22-27 minutes and a maximum of 44-52 minutes. All additional details regarding submissions and rules and regulations are available on the official festival site.
The official selection of the fifth AJB DOC Film Festival will be announced at the beginning of September 2022. The Festival will screen over 20 documentaries across three festival selections: competition selection, out-out-competition, Last Minute Cinema selection and AJB Screening.
On the festival closing night, three awards will be presented: the Main Jury Award for the best film in the competition selection, the Programme Department Jury Award and the Audience Award. All selected films may be considered for an acquisition agreement with the Al Jazeera Balkans and broadcast on its TV Channel.
