
Ex Oriente organisers have extended the deadline for the submission of creative feature-length doc projects and docuseries from Central/Eastern Europe in development and early production, and which ‘challenge genres, format and media boundaries.’ Deadline extended to April 30.
During three week-long sessions held over nine months, producers and directors will be guided by 25+ experienced filmmakers and experts in the development of ideas, aspects of production and promotion strategies for their documentary projects. Workshop lead tutors are Iikka Vehkalahti, Mikael Opstrup, Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová and Filip Remunda.
Guest tutors for previous editions include directors and producers Viktor Kossakovsky, Mike Bonanno (The Yes Men); editors Dounia Sichov, Niels Pagh Andersen, Joe Bini and Phil Jandaly; directors Anja Salomonowitz, Salomé Jashi and Robert Kirchhoff, and Doclisboa director Cintia Gil and KVIFF artistic director Karel Och.

Ex Oriente Film was established in 2003 as the very first training initiative for Eastern European creative documentaries. In the eighteen years of its existence, more than 200 documentary projects from Eastern and Central Europe have been through the workshop, including Brothers, The Domino Effect, Blind Loves, At the Edge of Russia, Rabbit a la Berlin, Village without Women, Bakhmaro, Over the Limit and A New Shift.
