The 10th Antenna Documentary Film Festival, running 14–24 October 2021 in cinemas across Sydney, Australia, has increased its Best Feature Documentary cash prize to $10,000 AUD (approx €6,470) cash prize. The regular submissions deadline is 18 June, with a late deadline of 16 July.
The Best Feature Documentary Competition celebrates documentary filmmaking from around the world, accepting submissions from both international and Australian filmmakers and all subject matters and style, with a runtime of 60 minutes or more, the festival underlines.
Antenna has also partnered with Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) to “reinvigorate” its Best Australian Short Documentary Award with a cash prize of $5,000 AUD, as development funding towards the winning filmmaker’s next project.
“The past decade has seen an explosion in the creativity and imagination of documentary filmmakers,” says David Rokach, Festival Director and Founder.
“Showcasing their boundary-pushing work over the years has not only demonstrated to audiences the endless possibilities of what non-fiction cinema can be, but has also made Antenna what it is today. I can’t wait to see what films the documentary community has in store for us, in 2021 and beyond,” he adds.
Established in 2011, the festival has a stated mission “to promote, celebrate and champion creative documentary cinema as one of the most exciting means by which we can connect to the contemporary world.”
