DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival, originally planned as a hybrid event for cinemas and online, will now be held as an online-only event 31 Jan to 6 Feb due to current Covid restrictions in Finland.

Despite the move to online, the docfest promises to feature several world premieres by Finnish filmmakers, as well as some of the biggest international docs films of the past year. The complete festival programme will be announced on Thursday 20 January.

Running simultaneously in Helsinki and Tallinn, DocPoint is one of the largest documentary film festivals in the Nordic countries.

The new industry event DocPoint FINEST Market, showcasing new Finnish and Estonian docs to international industry professionals, will accompany the festival, running through to 13 February. It will also be presented online.

Most films at the DocPoint FINEST Market are world premieres, and includes some 20 Finnish and Estonian films that are ready for acquisition or distribution, both feature-length and shorts.
