Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (24-29 October) unveiled details revealed September 22 details of its Industry programme running October 25 to 28, that includes pitches of new Czech and international projects, presentations by the EMERGING PRODUCERS 2024 cohort and a range of panel discussions.
Highlights include the October 25 Czech Joy In The Spotlight presentation and previews of brand Czech documentary films selected for the main festival competition, and introduced by their authors. This is immediately followed by the EMERGING PRODUCERS 2024 presentation of the 19 new European documentary film producers.
October 26 sees the New Visions Forum presentation of 18 new European projects, chosen for their “artistic, originality and author-driven character, visual style and fresh spirit.” The selection will be published in coming weeks. On the same day the festival will host a Visegrad Accelerator panel discussion with leading experts on VR, followed by the announcement of the region’s best VR works. The day ends with a debate on the ethics of docmaking.
On October 27 it is the turn of US filmmakers to present their projects as part of New Visions Forum (see below for details). During the Book to Film pitch session, four renowned European writers will introduce their recently published book to potential film partners.
The final day (October 28) offers up a panel discussion involving the Czech Directors’ and Scriptwriters‘ Association on changes in the audiovisual industry and their impact on documentary film. There will be later sessions on co-producing with French filmmakers and the opportunities offered to producers and other documentary professionals by Creative Europe Media.
