DocCelerator’s Geoffrey Smith and Ove Rishøj Jensen
DocCelerator, the new online documentary mentoring program, has put out the call for projects for the fifth edition of the workshop. DocCelerator is aimed at documentary makers looking for a clearer dramaturgical structure and a more streamlined production process for their next project in development.
The next edition takes place November 5-6 2020, with an application deadline of October 9, 2020.
Participants in DocCelerator get detailed feedback on their current project in development as well as tools and methods for structuring their documentary story. Consists of a two-day online workshop and follow up mentorship, the program is designed for six selected filmmakers or teams with a project currently in development.
The DocCelerator workshop is run by Geoffrey Smith and Ove Rishøj Jensen.
“By now DocCelerator has proven to save documentary makers an enormous amount of money and time, simply by having a sharper narrative approach and a more focused development process. In this way documentary makers have a more streamlined production where they record less hours of material and spend less expensive hours in the editing,” comments Rishøj Jensen.
“We have had participants from Brazil, Armenia, USA, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Sweden, Belarus, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, France and Finland who have all found the DocCelerator format inspiring and rewarding for the development of their project. Some production companies even took part in two DocCelerator workshops, as they were so happy with the result from their first participation, that they came back with new projects.”

The pair are also organising a special DocCelerator Galway for Irish documentary makers, made in collaboration with the Creative Europe Desk Ireland MEDIA Office Galway. It takes place as an online workshop on October 7th-8th, 2020.
