The Impact Days Industry programme of FIFDH (International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights) will this year run 12-14 March.
The programme was launched in 2019 “to celebrate and develop cinematic storytelling as a tool for social change,” and brings together filmmakers, producers, NGOs and foundations to find alliances and joint strategies around common human rights themes. Now in its fifth year, Impact Days has helped hundreds of participants elevate and amplify the impact of their work, write organisers.
“Documentaries can play a fundamental role in sparking conversations and motivating actions that lead to structural and behavioural change,” organisers continue. “FIFDH Impact Days maximises this potential by helping to refine and define each film’s concrete impact goals and facilitating impact alliances between filmmakers and key players in the vast ecosystem of civil society activists, policymakers and funders active in Geneva – world capital of Human Rights”
Between March 12-14 during Impact Days:
- Leaders in the impact field will showcase impact film campaigns based on strong collaborations between filmmakers, NGOs and civil society.
- 16 film teams from 23 countries, selected for this year’s Impact Lab will publicly pitch their films and impact campaigns to an audience of changemakers, funders, and other accredited professionals. From the 110 international documentary projects submitted, Impact Days selected 16 directors from 14 different countries. The topics of their compelling documentary projects range from violence against women in Turkey to human trafficking in Bangladesh, from asylum procedures in Switzerland to Indigenous rights in Jodan, from child soldiers in Yemen to reproductive rights in the Dominican Republic.
- A unique opportunity to exchange with all nine members of the Global Impact Producers’ Alliance (GIPA) Advisory team, gathered here at Impact Days from all corners of the world to answer your questions. What is an impact producer anyway? Why does my film need one? Why should my organization get involved in a documentary impact campaign?
- Networking opportunities to find your future impact partners. Whether you have a specific project or you’re just starting to explore potential alliances, come and connect with international filmmakers, impact producers, funders, journalists and representatives from the key international NGOs based in and around Geneva.
