Al Jazeera Documentary (AJD) Industry Days has announced a call for projects for its third edition that will take place from 14-16 September 2024. Entries are open from March 4 to the deadline day of May 31. AJD Industry Days runs in parallel with the Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC) which is organized for 13 to 17 September 2024 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Call for Projects is exclusively for documentary filmmakers from the Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) region or documentary projects dealing with topics from these areas.
“We intend to support the expansion of high-quality documentaries worldwide, including international co-productions, and introduce exciting and valuable projects to key decision-makers,” write organisers.
AJD Industry Days is announcing a call for the following projects:
- MAIN PITCH – accepting all stages of project development and production by independent filmmakers and production companies
- ROUGH CUT – projects in the post-production stage, intended for broadcasting on Al Jazeera or other international broadcasters and platforms
- BALKAN STARS – the development stage of projects and production suitable for regional and international co-production with Al Jazeera Balkans/Al Jazeera Documentary or other broadcasters
The AJD Industry Days platform will provide documentary filmmakers from the Southeast Europe, Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) region with an opportunity to network with decision-makers and leading professionals from both regional and international film and TV industries, the festival underlines.
“Successful project owners will be invited to present their projects on-site in Sarajevo to this years’ board of international broadcasters and prominent professionals that will decide on this year’s winners who will obtain funding for documentary production and support for their broadcast, distribution, screening, and sales worldwide,” write organisers.
The total prize fund provided by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Al Jazeera Balkans and all project partners in 2023 was 100,000 USD. A comparable prize fund will be allocated in 2024.

AJD Industry Days invites applicants to submit their projects via Submit a Project Form at industry.ajbdoc.ba. Entries are open from 4th March to 31st May 2024. Project submission is free of charge and the successful projects will be notified by the end of July 2024.
