Organisers of the Budapest-based human rights festival invite docmakers, aspiring film critics and students to apply for the 7th DocLab Workshop, the inaugural Film Critics Workshop and this year’s Student Jury. The 19th edition of the documentary film festival will take place 8-20 November 2022.

European Film Awards Feature Doc Film Selection 2022

The European Film Academy has revealed the 13 feature-length documentary films, as chosen by a committee comprising a diverse range of European experts, that have been recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2022. The European Film Awards will be presented on 10 December in Reykjavík.

Jury of 5th AJB DOC Film Festival unveiled

Aida Begić, Dana Budisavljević, Fatma Riahi, Phil Grabsky and Ensar Altay will all serve on the international jury of the fifth edition of AJB DOC Film Festival, which will be held in Sarajevo from September 9 to 13. The five-member jury will select the best film of the AJB DOC Festival Competition Programme and award the AJB DOC Main Award.

The two organizations have announced joint initiatives to be presented at the 79th Venice Film Festival in solidarity with filmmakers who have been arrested or jailed over the past year. First is an international panel on September 3, the second is a flash mob on the red carpet (September 9) before the screening in Sala Grande of the competition film No Bears by Jafar Panahi.

Zambrano joined the Festival as Head of Film Programmes earlier in 2022. Following a return to a predominantly in-person festival, attracting 30,323 attendances, the organisation is adopting a “new, joint leadership model for the future” and has commenced the search for a new Managing Director and Creative Director.

For their debut documentary world-premiering at Edinburgh, intrepid filmmakers Cat and Hannah set off on a 3000-kilometre odyssey along Central Asia's Pamir Highway, which runs from Uzbekistan, through Tajikistan and into Kyrgyzstan.
