The 2nd session of the Ex Oriente Film workshop 'Production and Story Development' takes place during the 26th Ji.hlava IDFF, running to October 30. The team of experienced tutors, comprising doc expert Mikael Opstrup, producer/consultant Iikka Vehkalahti, director/script editor Ivana Pauerová Miloševič and director/producer Filip Remunda will help selected filmmakers to develop their feature doc projects.

The open program of the Ex Oriente Film 2021 workshop 2nd session, commencing today on the eve of the 25th Ji.hlava IDFF, offers a series of lectures, case studies, and masterclasses dedicated to various aspects of doc filmmaking, production and distribution. The session is organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in cooperation with FAMU and is available to holders of all types of accreditation.

The Institute of Documentary Film Silver Eye Award for best short was awarded October 29 to Mohammed Almughanni for his film Son of the Streets. Hanna Hovitie's To Feather, to Wither received a Special Mention. Feature-length award to be announced October 31.

IDF will give Silver Eye Awards to the best docs from Central and Eastern Europe in the East Silver Market during the online edition of the 24th Ji.hlava IDFF (Oct 27 – Nov 8, 2020). Eleven feature-length nominees include the recent A New Shift and The Jump, and there are eight short doc nominees.

Pripyat Piano, a short creative documentary by noted Czech composer and filmmaker Eliška Cílková, reveals a hidden memory of ghost town, Pripyat, home to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The film is part of the IDF East Silver Caravan.

Five projects have been selected for the first session of East Doc Series, which will take place online at Baltic Sea Docs on 2 and then 7-8 September 2020. The selection includes documentary series by Hungarian Bernadett Tuza-Ritter and Bulgarian duo Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov.
