Autlook Filmsales has acquired world rights for Bianca Stigter’s Three Minutes – A Lengthening, produced by Floor Onrust of Family Affair Films (Amsterdam) in collaboration with Steve McQueen (Lammas Park – UK) and narrated by Brit thesp Helena Bonham Carter.

“Can a film of three minutes last for over an hour? Director Bianca Stigter masterfully examines these three minutes of film, to unravel the stories hidden in the celluloid,” stress the press notes for the film.

The 68-minute feature doc, constructed out of a three-minute 16mm home movie shot by David Kurtz in Poland in 1938, is inspired by grandson Glenn Kurtz’ book ‘Three Minutes in Poland. Discovering a Lost World in a 1938 Family Film’ (2014) in which the writer traces his four-year journey to identify the people in his grandfather’s images.

The film is edited by Katharina Wartena and sound editing was completed by Mark Glynne. Wilko Sterke composed the music.

Autlook CEO Salma Abdalla comments: Three Minutes – A Lengthening surprised and wowed everyone in our team. It´s a highly contemporary picture that pairs a very distinguished form of narration and editing with visuals that become richer with every minute you are screening. Bianca Stigter examines three minutes and turns them into an emotionally engaging and tense viewing experience.”

Adds producer Floor Onrust: “I am thrilled to have Autlook on board for Three Minutes – A Lengthening. It is a pleasure working with Salma and her committed team on our first documentary.”
