Three projects selected for Docu Rough Cut Boutique 2023 scooped the six cash and in-kind awards during the August 17 closing ceremony of CineLink Industry Days. Organized by Sarajevo Film Festival and Balkan Documentary Center, Docu Rough Cut Boutique is a regional platform dedicated to documentary projects in the advanced phase of the editing process. The programme is organised in three modules: Budapest, Sofia, and Sarajevo.
This year’s jury comprised Tereza Keilova, HBO Europe; Eugen Kelemen, Avanpost; Catherine LeClef, CAT&Docs; Marcel Maiga, DOK Leipzig, Lejla Dedić, Al Jazeera Balkans; and Sofia Tocar, Institute of Documentary Film.

Speaking to Business Doc Europe before the August 14 pitch, Docu Rough Cut Boutique head Rada Sešic commented of her programme: “We want to support different formats of documentary cinema…and give a lot of freedom to the filmmakers. They combine fictional parts, animation, archive and everything. So we have a range of styles across these five projects. We also want to support newcomers, new names. So among them are some people who have very little experience, maybe on a national level but not on international level. But they have something to say that is interesting and relevant, and they know how to say it.”
