DAFilms to host Roberto Minervini retrospective from May 10

The Other Side by Roberto Minervini

Still: The Other Side

Kicking off 10 May, online streaming portal DAFilms will present a curated retrospective of Roberto Minervini’s award-winning work titled ‘Roberto Minervini: Gonna Dig a Hole to Put the Devil In’. Included in the tribute are Low TideStop the Pounding Heart, and The Other Side.

“In all three titles, Minervini captured the stories of often overlooked people living on the fringes of society,” write event organisers. “Visually immersive imagery and scenes from the dark side of modern-day America are what characterise [his] work.”

An exclusive DAFilms live stream discussion between Minervini and Giona Nazzaro, Artistic Director of Locarno Film Festival, will complement the programme. The discussion can be watched on DAFilms Live or on Facebook from Wednesday, 19 May from 7pm CET.

“We’ve been following Roberto Minervini’s work for many years and have grown fascinated with the ease in which he portrays the overwhelming lives of his main characters,” comments Diana Tabakov, Executive Director and Curator at DAFilms. “We are thrilled to finally be able to showcase his work to DAFilms viewers in such a comprehensive way as well as put together a discussion with this talented filmmaker, whose work we’ll certainly continue to hear about in the future.”

The online portal DAFilms.com is the main project of the Doc Alliance festival network formed by seven core European documentary film festivals: CPH:DOX, Doclisboa, Millennium Docs Against Gravity FF, DOK Leipzig, FIDMarseille, Ji.hlava IDFF and Visions du Réel. It represents an international online distribution platform for documentary and experimental films focused on European cinema.
