DocsBarcelona Pro (May 9 – 14), the industry section of DocsBarcelona, has announced the 63 selected projects for its different mentoring, advisory and funding programmes in 2026. “With a clear commitment to diversity in perspectives, narratives and formats, the selection brings together documentaries from nearly 40 countries at different stages of development and production, which will receive tailored support and guidance according to their status and needs,” organisers underline.
This year, DocsBarcelona Pro received more than 670 project applications across the Forum (Public Pitch, Rough Cut Pitch, New Tech Pitch and Speed Meetings) and Training (Campus DocsBarcelona, Pitch Lab and Artistic Consultancies for Rough Cut Projects). Forum alone (May 11 – 13) received 500 project applications. “DocsBarcelona Pro continues the upward trend of recent editions and celebrates having achieved, once again, the call with the highest participation in its 29-year history,” organisers write.
Comments Èric Motjer, Head of DocsBarcelona Pro and co-artistic director of the festival: “In a year marked by global instability, also affecting the documentary industry, we have sought to strengthen the role of DocsBarcelona Pro as a space for financial support for projects in development. Together with partners such as Aljazeera or 3Cat, among others, we have managed to double the prize endowment, which now reaches nearly 60,000 euros, of which 42,500 euros are in cash, reaffirming our commitment to directors and producers in the earliest stages of their creative proposals.”
PUBLIC PITCH: 12 documentary projects in development or production stage, selected and presented before an international panel of commissioning editors, distributors, sales agents and potential co-producers.
