For the first time, DOK.fest Munich is organising the All Inclusive Award for documentary film productions. The prize, donated by the Werksviertel-Mitte Foundation and endowed with 5,000 euros, will be awarded during the 40th DOK.fest München in May 2025. The prize honours documentary film productions in which filmmakers with disabilities play a leading role. The closing date for entries is 3 February 2025.
“We are looking for long documentary films with production year 2024/25. And particularly important: it is not about films about people with disabilities, but films by professional filmmakers with disabilities,” write organisers. “Our long-term goal is to reach as many filmmakers with disabilities as possible (producers, directors, screenwriters, cinematographers, sound and editors) with the call.”
“In order to assess eligibility for participation, we are guided by the definition of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,” organisers add. “People with disabilities include people who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which, in interaction with various barriers, may prevent them from participating fully, effectively and equally in society.”
Film teams in whose film production one or more persons with disabilities are significantly involved can submit their films.
Films that meet the following criteria are eligible for submission:
- Film teams in whose film production one or more persons with disabilities were significantly involved may submit films. This applies to the tasks of production, direction, screenplay, camera, sound and editing.
- The subject of the film does not necessarily have to be about a life with a disability.
- The prize is awarded internationally.
- Cinema film productions with a minimum length of 52 minutes
- Completion after 1 January 2024
- The film may have already been released and shown in cinemas.
- If a film has already been shown in a previous DOK.fest München edition, a new submission is not possible.
- The prize is awarded across all film series.
- University films (including graduation films) are eligible.
- All submitted films will be considered in the regular programme selection of the festival. The public screening at DOK.fest München 2025 is therefore possible regardless of the award.
- The submission is independent of the participation at DOK.fest München.
- Two public screenings at DOK.fest München 2025 are obligatory.
