Dutch doc series granted €1.25 million in Incentive support

The 10 x 50 minutes Dutch documentary Dutch The Story of The Netherlands has been granted a financial contribution of €1,249,903 during the latest round of Netherlands Film Production Incentive funding.

Total contributions within this round (the 4th of 2019) amount to €6.9 million and will benefit 12 feature films, an animated feature, a drama series and a documentary series, including 10 international co-productions.

The Netherlands Film Production Incentive offers a financial contribution in the form of a cash rebate on the qualifying production costs that are demonstrably spent in The Netherlands.

It is estimated contributions from the latest round (€6.9m) will generate more than €24.8 million in production spend in the Netherlands among Dutch film professionals and film companies.

The Story of The Netherlands series promises to show how The Netherlands has become the country that it is today. It is described as an epic journey through prehistoric times to the present day, past the all-determining events and people that have shaped the Netherlands.

Niek Koppen is one of The Netherlands’ most celebrated documentary filmmakers, both as a producer for his Selfmade Films and as a director (The Hunt, 1997; Gold 2007).

The multi award-winning Lourens Blok has been busy shooting several episodes of the Dutch TV series Amsterdam Vice for Millstreet Films, which will be broadcast in 2020.
