EURODOC has unveiled the 23 participants from 13 countries selected for EURODOCMED 2026, a five-day workshop running in Ajaccio, Corsica from April 27 to May 1.
The workshop is open to producers and directors working in the Mediterranean and MENA region, and will be presented across two linguistic groups – French-speaking and Arabic-speaking – addressing issues of writing, development and international co-production, with a focus on North-South and South-South co-productions.
The 23 producers, producer-directors and observers hail from Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Italy, France, and Germany. Over the course of the session, they will develop their documentary projects both creatively and financially, and strengthen their (co)production strategies under the guidance of tutors Alexandre Cornu and Diana El Jeiroudi, mentors Palmyre A. Badinier and Qutaiba Barhamji, and a distinguished line-up of decision-makers, broadcasters and fund representatives.
“At a time when unjust and devastating wars continue to affect parts of the Arab world, we believe it is more essential than ever to support documentary projects and voices from the region, and to foster meaningful collaboration and co-production between Western Asia, Europe and the Mediterranean,” organisers write.
“For participants who have left war behind them, or who are now living in exile across Europe, we hope this session will offer a space of care and meaningful dialogue: a step away, however brief, from the violence. By joining EURODOCMED, this cohort becomes part of a vibrant international network of over 1,800 documentary professionals across 80 countries, and will benefit from ongoing training and networking opportunities in the years to come.”
