Feature documentaries at Tribeca 2025

The End of Quiet by Kasper Bisgaard and Mikael Lypinski

Tribeca 2025 may have already opened with Billy Joel: And So It Goes by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, but the doc component kicks off in earnest June 6 with the 10-film Documentary Competition, running to June 11 and all of which are world premieres. The feature docs are largely US, with the exceptions of the Danish The End of Quiet and An Eye for an Eye (co-produced with Iran and US); the Peruvian Ruma Simi, and the US/UK Underland

Additionally, 27 feature docs (21 of which are world prems) are selected for the festival’s Spotlight Documentary section. The mainly US selection features filmd on the late, great US comedian Andy Kaufman; the journalist Barbara Walters; UK band Culture Club; Barbara Jordan, the first Southern Black woman to join Congress, and US track star Alysson Felix. Meanwhile The Last Guest Of The Holloway Motel tells the strange tale of former Norwich City defender Tony Powell who disappeared from public view, only to reappear decades later in a West Hollywood motel.

Richard Ladkani’s feature doc Yanuni, about the fearless female Indigenous chief Juma Xipaia (Brazil), closes the festival on June 14.
