DocsBarcelona Industry, which will run May 12-16, has put out its final New Tech Pitch call for non-fiction projects using emerging technologies. The pitching session is organised in collaboration with the advanced arts festival Sónar+D. During the New Tech Pitch, up to six teams will have the opportunity to present their projects before an international panel of financiers and experts.
In addition, projects participating in the New Tech Pitch will have access to Speed Meetings, consisting of 15-minute one-to-one meetings with financiers and experts. These meetings are pre-arranged, with a focus on aligning the specific needs of each project with the interests and capabilities of potential financiers. The submission deadline is January 27.
The selected projects are eligible for the following prizes:
- BOOST by Metacampus – Social Innovation Award: a €1,500 prize as a contribution to the development of one project presented in the New Tech Pitch.
- Sónar+D Award: One New Tech Pitch project will be selected to attend Sónar+D in 2025 and will have a personalized networking agenda for two team members. This pitch is dedicated to non-fiction projects and co-productions that use, in any of their production stages, the following media technologies: AI models, AI powered tools, VR, XR, AR, web3, blockchain, metaverse. Projects must be in development, pre-production, or production stages with a substantial funding gap. The rules and registration are available at Docs&Me.
DocsBarcelona Industry has also issued its final call for Public Pitch, Rough Cut Pitch and Speed Meetings, and others, with the same deadline of January 27. Prizes worth €15,000 are up for grabs:
- Public Pitch: A selection of projects in development are presented to a decision-making group makers and industry professionals.
- Rough Cut Pitch: A selection of projects at production phase seeking sales, distribution and exhibition opportunities are presented to a decision-making group makers and industry professionals.
- Speed Meetings: 15-minute B2B meetings between documentary projects and international funders with the aim of obtaining funding to develop their project.
- DocsBarcelona Campus: Creation laboratory with follow-up tutorials and training days during all year round for non-fiction projects.
- Artistic Consultations for Rough Cut Projects: Personalized 80-minute consultations with an expert tutor for projects at assembly stage.
- DocsBarcelona Talents: Talent development support program, dedicated to contributing to the careers of five professionals in the field of non-fiction.
The professional market will be held within the framework of the 28th edition of the DocsBarcelona Festival, which from 8 to 18 May 2025 will once again bring the best documentary film premieres to Barcelona, as well as various parallel activities and visits from filmmakers from around the world.
In 2025, the festival has five competitive sections, a major retrospective and a dozen prizes valued at almost 20,000 euros.
