29th It’s All True open for submissions

It's All True Documentary Film Festival

The Brazilian It’s All True documentary festival has put out the call for submissions for the next edition running April 4-14 2024. Submissions close on December 8 2023.

Founded and headed by film critic Amir Labaki, the 29th It’s All True will take place simultaneously in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Winners of the Brazilian and International Feature/Medium-length and Short Film categories automatically qualify for Academy Award nomination consideration in the Best Feature and Best Short Doc categories.

In 2023 the festival screened 72 titles from 34 countries, as well as on the streaming platforms SESC Digital and Itaú Cultural. 

Directed by Eliza Capai, Incompatible with Life won the Brazilian Competition for Feature/Medium-length Films and was awarded BRL 20,000.00 (€3670). The Best Brazilian short film was named as The Tree of Dream, by Morzaniel Iramari, and was awarded BRL 6,000.00 (€1107). 

The winner of the International Feature/Medium-Length Film Competition was Total Trust (Germany, Holland, China), directed by Jialing Zhang. The prize was valued at BRL 12,000.00 (€2214). Ptitsa, directed by Alina Maksimenko (Ukraine, Poland), was chosen as the Best International Short Film, and received BRL 6,000.00 (€1107).
