The Krakow Film Festival Industry awards were handed out this weekend, with main awards and special mentions given in the Docs to Start (for brand new projects) and Docs to Go (projects reaching completion) categories. This year 18 projects took part in DOC LAB POLAND workshops that culminated in the two pitching sessions, held under the auspices of KFF Industry during the 62nd Krakow Film Festival. 

 

DOCS TO START AWARDS 

Docs to Start is part of the DOC LAB POLAND programme and presents Polish documentary film projects at development or early production stage. This year there were 4 main awards and 3 honorable mentions:

 

HBO Max Award: INSURANCE AGAINST METEORITES dir. and prod. Natalia Śliwowska and Jorik Amit Galama (10,000 PLN in cash)

 

ORKA Award: THE PERFECT DATE dir. Małgorzata Goliszewska prod Agnieszka Skalska, ZPR MEDIA/KOI STUDIO (Image postproduction services worth of 20,000 PLN)

 

FIXAFILM Award: got the project TENDERNESS OF TRANSIENCE dir Mateusz Mularski prod Joanna Zielińska, BIG WAVE FILMS (Image postproduction services worth 15,000 PLN)

 

MX35 Award: went the project A HOLE IN THE WALL dir. Arjun Talwar prod Karolina Śmigiel, UNI-SOLO STUDIO (Film equipment rental services worth of 10,000 PLN )

 

DOK Leipzig Special Mention: A HOLE IN THE WALL dir Arjun Talwar prod Karolina Śmigiel, UNI-SOLO STUDIO (Invitation to Co‐pro Meetings in Leipzig)

 

Institute of Documentary Film Special Mention: TOWARDS THE SUN dir. Agnieszka Kokowska prod Justyna Ziemkiewicz, Sławomir Richert, /WARSAW PRODUCTION TEAM (Invitation to East Doc Platform for the project)

 

Polish Docs Pro Special Mention: GO&SEE dir. Julia Kuzka prod Małgorzata Małysa, FURIA FILM (Support of international promotion and invitation to one of the key world documentary industry event)

DOCS TO GO! AWARDS

After the Docs To Go presentation of Polish documentary film projects in post-production preceded by DOC LAB POLAND workshops, four main prizes and two honorable mentions were awarded:

 

SMAKJAM Award: THE COAL DAUGHTER dir. Aneta Nowicka prod Jacek Kucharski, TRAFIK (Image postproduction services worth of 25,000 PLN)

 

ORKA Award: SIGNS OF MR. PLUM dir. Urszula Morga, Bartosz Mikołajczyk, prod. Stanisław Zaborowski, Jan Borowiec, SILVER FRAME. (Image postproduction services worth of 20,000 PLN)

 

ORKA Award: FEAR OUT OF HEAD dir. Grzegorz Brzozowski, prod.Natalia Grzegorzek, KOSKINO (Image postproduction services worth of 20,000 PLN)

 

CAFE OLE Award: HASAN’S JOY dir. Natalia Pietsch, Grzegorz Piekarski prod Katarzyna Kostecka, LARMO (sound postproduction services worth of 10,000 PLN)

 

Institute of Documentary Film Special Mention: HASAN’S JOY dir. Natalia Pietsch, Grzegorz Piekarski prod Katarzyna Kostecka, LARMO (Invitation to East Doc Platform)

 

The Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation Special Mention: FACES OF AGATA dir. Małgorzata Kozera prod Maria Krauss, PLESNAR & KRAUSS FILMS. (Invitation Co‐pro Meetings in Leipzig)

This year 18 projects took part in the third session of the DOC LAB POLAND workshops that culminated in the Docs to Start and Docs to Go pitching sessions, held under the auspices of KFF Industry during the 62nd Krakow Film Festival. 

 

Tutors who prepared the participants for the public presentation of their projects were: Jacek Bławut, Lidia Duda, Hanka Kastelicová, Paweł Łoziński, Tracie Holder, Adriek van Nieuwenhuiyzen, Paul Pauwels, Małgorzata Świderska, Anna Wydra, Barbara Orlicz-Szczypuła, Martijn J. te Pas, Agnieszka Rostropowicz-Rutkowska, Rada Sesic and Katarzyna Wilk.
