Legacy wins Sunny Side prize at LatAm Content Meeting 2026

Producer Mariana Genescá (Amana Cine) and Aurélie Reman, Managing Director at Sunny Side of the Doc

The Brazilian project Legacy, directed by Ana Ahranha and produced by Mariana Genescá (Amana Cine), was awarded the Sunny Side of the Doc Prize at LatAm Content Meeting (13 – 15 April 2026). The project highlights the challenges around the protection of farms and nature against pesticides.

The team wins two free Market Passes for Sunny Side of the Doc 2026, which will take place from June 22 to 24, 2026, in La Rochelle, France.

The logline reads: A family rebuilds after the patriarch’s murder, who exposed pesticide harms near the world’s largest fruit farms. His firstborn is a young woman torn between opposite sides of his legacy: the fear of following his fate and the desire to fight for a better world for her own daughter, who has health issues caused by contamination.

Aurélie Reman, Managing Director at Sunny Side of the Doc, comments: “We chose to reward a local story that becomes universal, a story that is both deeply personal and politically necessary. We are proud to encourage an emerging generation of filmmakers, both in front of and behind the camera, bringing women’s voices we rarely hear from, and a wholly new perspective not only on the harms of pesticides, but on the power of civil societies around the globe.” says
