The Rome-based MIA International Audiovisual Market (11-15 October) has put out the call to all producers of documentary, fiction film and drama series looking for finance or a co-production deal to submit their projects intended for theatrical distribution, television broadcasting and digital streaming. The deadline for submission is July 4 2022.
The Doc Pitching Forum is an event committed to providing exposure to documentary projects in development, during which the MIA board selects up to 15 works of high artistic merit and distribution potential.
“The MIA Doc Pitching Forum is the most important Italian event dedicated to documentary projects in the development stage,” write organisers. “MIA DOC has always paid great attention towards Italian documentaries and their internationalization. For this reason, even if a project isn’t selected, we provide producers an opportunity to network with and form connections with the international decision-makers attending the market.”
During the eighth edition of MIA (11th to 15th October, 2022) selected projects will be presented to an audience of industry professionals and top international players from global studios, OTT platforms and broadcasters to production and distribution companies, as well as agents and financiers.
Since 2015, MIA has recorded an 84% growth in terms of attendance and content presented, say organisers. The 2021 edition welcomed a total of 2000 accredited participants from 56 countries. The +600 international key players in Rome were joined by 450 producers, 800 buyers of completed products and projects, and enjoyed 150 market screenings (80 of which were previews), 150 projects and works in progress (70% Italian), 59 panels in the venues of Cinema Moderno and Palazzo Barberini, as well as 40,000 B2B meetings.
The eighth edition will return to the Barberini District with an intense four-day program of panels, showcases, and screenings promoted by MIA’s three divisions: Scripted, Unscripted and Strategic Development, designed with the aim of anticipating the industry trends and supporting the audiovisual ecosystem most efficiently from an international perspective. As for previous editions, on-site activities will be ‘enhanced and integrated’ with online ones, via MIA DIGITAL, organisers confirm.
