MIA International Audiovisual Market (Rome, October 9-13) has put out the call for applications to this year’s Doc Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum. The Market is committed to providing exposure to documentary projects in development. The event’s international selection committee selects up to 15 projects “with high artistic standing and distribution potential.”
The deadline for applications is 17.00 CET, July 7.
The MIA Doc Co-Production Market is the most important Italian event dedicated to documentary projects in the development stage, say organisers. “MIA DOC has always paid great attention towards Italian documentaries and their internationalization. The MIA Market offers several networking opportunities and support producers to connect with the international decision-makers attending the market.”
The Documentary Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum is looking for:
- Documentary Feature-length Films
- Docuseries
- TV One-offs
“We believe that if you come to Italy, you should find something that you usually don’t get to find in the other markets,” Marco Spagnoli, Deputy Director and Head of Doc & Factual at MIA, told Business Doc Europe during MIA 2022. “And Italians are doing very good things in documentaries. There are many opportunities to produce, to make documentaries here. Something is happening.”
He further emphasised the friendly appeal of his Rome-based event. “We try to tear down separations. It’s very well organized, but there is less structure. I don’t like barriers. Of course people meet the people they want to meet, but still you have many chances [to meet other professionals] in order to get ideas, to get to know other people. It’s more, let’s say, a social event. It more favours, let’s say, business in a relaxed way. An Italian approach.”
