DOK.fest München, whose next edition runs May 5-16, has announced the 13-film shortlist for the fourth VFF Documentary Production Award, valued at €7500 and the first award in Germany to focus on the work of documentary film producers.
The festival also announced three-person jury who will preside over the winner. These are Halina Dyrschka, producer and director; Thomas Frickel, author, director and producer, and Sonia Otto, creative producer.
“The process of making a documentary film is particularly difficult to plan and often involves great uncertainty. Yet time and again producers demonstrate great courage and show special creativity and commitment in project development and film financing,” say festival organisers. “With the presentation of the VFF Documentary Film Production Award at DOK.fest München, we honour the passionate commitment and the role of producers in the development of current cinema documentary projects.”
