Nathalie Mierop has been appointed new director of SEE NL, replacing Ido Abram. Mierop takes up her new role January 25.
SEE NL is a collaboration between Eye Filmmuseum and the Netherlands Film Fund, dedicated to the international promotion of Dutch films, film industry and film culture.
Mierop studied Spanish Language and Literature and Latin-American studies with a focus on Ibero-American cinema and started her career at the Latin-American department of Radio Netherlands (Radio Nederland Wereldomroep). From 2002, she worked across different roles within several film festivals, including International Film Festival Rotterdam, Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, and the Holland Film Meeting (the international programme of the Netherlands Film Festival). Since 2010, Mierop has worked at SEE NL (formerly known as Eye International) in the role of promotion manager for arthouse & crossover films and immersive projects.
During the four-year leadership of outgoing SEE NL director Ido Abram, SEE NL started to work with a team of specialized promotion managers in the following fields: feature films, documentaries, short & experimental film, youth films, animation, and immersive media.
“In the years to come, SEE NL will maintain its focus on Dutch feature films, and continue to support the specialized promotion of documentaries, short (animated) films, youth films, experimental films, and virtual reality,” the organisation underlines.
Nathalie Mierop: “I am very much looking forward to working with the rest of the SEE NL team to bring Dutch cinema and the Dutch film industry even more to the international spotlight, in close collaboration with the Netherlands Film Fund, the Film Commissioner, film festivals, and, above all, the Dutch filmmakers.”
In addition to director Nathalie Mierop (feature films and immersive works), Team SEE NL consists of promotion managers Lisa Linde Nieveld (documentaries and animation), Erik Mund (children’s and youth films), André Naus (mainstream films), Edith van der Heijde (animation, short, and experimental films), and content manager Fien de Leeuw.
