The Netherlands Film Fund + IDFA Bertha Fund Co-Production Scheme is supporting two documentary projects this year with €50,000 each: The Fabulous Gold Harvesting Machine by Alfredo Pourailly and The Nights Still Smell of Gunpowder by Inadelso Cossa.
Now in its third year, the collaboration between the two film funds supports international co-productions previously supported by the IBF that have a minority Dutch co-producer on board Supported projects, which in past years included Smog Town (dir. Meng Han), Me, a Knife and a Lighter (dir. Olga Zhurba), The Golden Thread (dir. Nishtha Jain), and Pandora’s Box (dir. Zhao Liang), eventually go on to be released in the Netherlands, either theatrically or otherwise.
Apart from the quality of the content of the script, the artistic value, original character and urgency of the project, NFF + IBF staff also assess in terms of creative and technical spend in the Netherlands.

The Nights Still Smell of Gunpowder

Concerned with the fragmented memories of his childhood during the civil war in Mozambique, filmmaker Inadelso returns to his grandmother’s village to reveal the untold stories that still haunt his generation.
