No Other Land wins top prizes at 40th IDA Awards

The 40th IDA (International Documentary Association) Awards were handed out December 5 in Los Angeles with the Palestine/Norway/US No Other Land, directed by Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Rachel Szor & Yuval Abraham, bagging the prizes for Best Feature Documentary and Best Director.

This year, the IDA received 700+ entries from 77 countries, an increase over last year both in the total number of entries and the countries represented. All entries were reviewed by jurors consisting of 300 documentary professionals from more than 40 countries. 

The other double winner at the IDA Awards was Johan Grimonprez’s Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat with won the Best Editing and Best Writing prizes. 

Both Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat and No Other Land are nominated for Best Documentary and Best Film at the European Film Awards to be handed December 7 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
