The 26th One World International Human Rights Film Festival, which runs March 20-28 2024 in Prague and in over 30 towns around the Czech Republic (and in Brussels), has posted a final reminder of the September 1 deadline for submissions.
The festival, which has grown over the years to become the largest human rights film festival in the world, is looking for:
- Feature or mid-length creative documentaries finished over the last 2 years (2022-2024)
- VR projects (interactive projects, AR, XR and 360° films)
- Docs for kids - short documentaries and animated films for children (no experimental films)
- Creative documentaries on human rights, social, political, environmental, and media issues will be selected based on the quality of the filmmaking and the power of their stories.
Selected films will be screened across four competitive categories:
- International Competition for creative documentaries
- Right To Know Competition for documentaries making an exceptional contribution to protecting human rights
- One World Interactive Competition for human rights oriented virtual reality projects focused on social impact
- Plus several non-competitive thematic categories
Since One World was established in 1999, “it has been bringing documentaries on human rights from around the world to local audiences, screening them in dozens of towns throughout the country and also at Czech primary and secondary schools. One World has been awarded by UNESCO for its contribution to raising awareness of human rights,” the festival writes online.
“From the very beginning, we wanted to do a big festival, we wanted to do something that is important not only here in the Czech Republic, but also beyond the borders of the Czech Republic,” says One World founder Igor Blaževič.
