Online DocPoint – Helsinki Doc FF unveils 2022 programme

Susanna Helke’s Ruthless Times – Songs of Care

The DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival has announced its festival programme that can be watched online 31 January to 6 February 2022. Eight docs are selected for national competition, while eleven will compete in international competition.

The opening film is Susana Helke’s Ruthless Times – Songs of Care which will also compete in National Competition. In the darkly humorous film, women working in public care sing songs about their everyday experiences, absurd and often miserable. The music is composed by the noted musician Anna-Mari Kähärä. The film is produced by Road Movies Oy.

DocPoint is organised as a nationwide online festival. The programme consists of 63 films in total, 52 of which are feature films. The National Programme includes thirteen premieres. The International Programme includes films such Academy Award contenders as Ascension, Faya Dayi, President and Writing With Fire.

In addition, the programme includes a retrospective of academic Pirjo Honkasalo, which consists of four masterful documentary films.

Says DocPoint executive director Tapio Riihimäki: “I am happy that we are able to organise DocPoint opening event as an outdoors event, in fresh winter air. And I am absolutely thrilled that the opening film is a topical and unique documentary musical! The film combines an actual topic, important issue, dark humor and wonderful singing scenes!”
