Polish Docs Pro delegation at IDFA industry

Birth Certificate by Wiktoria Szymańska Davis

The November 17 Polish Docs Pro Showcase will present five new docs in progress to the professionals at IDFA Industry. These are produced by some of the country’s most dynamic and active producers. The pitch precedes a round of one-on-ones with international decision makers.

“The renowned and internationally recognised Polish producers Kijora Films, Braidmade Films and Haka Films, the latter of which produced Alisa Kovalenko’s latest high-profile films, will bring their latest projects to Amsterdam,” comments Polish Docs Pro’s’ Katarzyna Wilk. “As will Uni-Solo Studio, responsible for Arjun Talwar’s Letters from Wolf Streetwhich premiered at this year’s Berlinale and which will be shown at IDFA in Best of Fests.”

“Noteworthy projects include Birth Certificate by Wiktoria Szymańska Davis, produced by the acclaimed Monika Braid, who has been featured at IDFA many times,” Wilk continues. “Szymańska Davis returns after a few years’ break with a very personal but universal story with a strong social and feminist background.”

“Another notable project is the grand return of Marcin Koszałka, one of the masters of Polish documentary filmmaking. After many years spent making feature films, The Pillar, produced by Piotr Kobus (Manana), once again reaches for one of his favourite themes: mountains. However, this time he will talk about sacrifice, friendship, responsibility, and overcoming one’s own limitations.”
