The RE>CONNEXT-selected documentary ALL-IN by Volkan Üce has won Best Documentary at this year’s Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
The jury comprising filmmakers Didem Pekün, Pelin Esmer and Pınar Öğünç awarded “a film which stands out for its thorough exploration of the central characters, for broadening out the grind of work, the search for equality, the questioning of meaning from the world of the characters into an ultimately human issue, and for its subtle cinematic language.”
In the film Belgian filmmaker Volkan Üce places centre stage the staff of a vast, all-inclusive hotel complex on the Turkish Riviera, in particular the brooding philosopher Hakan and the shy, young Ismael.
In other news, Lagardère has signed up to handle international sales on Luc Lemaitre’s documentary series The Offensive, produced by Panenka, which was presented during last year’s event. The series is also nominated in the Social Issues documentary category, at the New York TV & Film Awards.
The series comprises a road trip through populist Europe. In all seven episodes we see a parallel montage of three stories from different EU countries covering the same theme, alternated with archive materials. Old fragments of the European dream of peace and prosperity are combined with more recent reports on the situation in Europe.
