They are a company that deeply cares about supporting film artists in getting their unique visions seen on the big screen. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team and helping Lightdox find new and innovative ways to extend the reach of their catalogue and ensure that these wonderful films are seen by as wide an audience as possible.”

Intercepted release
Together with INDOX, Lightdox oversaw the recent UK & Ireland theatrical release of Oksana Karpovych’s award-winning documentary Intercepted. Marking the third year of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the film opened at London’s Bertha DocHouse on Friday, February 21, and its run has been extended to Wednesday, March 5. Special event screenings will follow across the UK & Ireland throughout the first half of the year, in collaboration with select partners and organizations.

During the first year of Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine, Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker Oksana Karpovych worked as a local producer for international reporters covering the invasion. Throughout 2022, she traveled across Ukraine with British photographer Christopher Nunn, documenting the devastation, resilience, and courage of Ukrainians in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk.

Beyond these visual records, Karpovych was drawn to intercepted communications captured and publicly released by the Ukrainian army — conversations between Russian soldiers and their superiors, loved ones, and comrades. These recordings expose the unfiltered realities of Russian frontline forces, revealing the chilling banality, complacency, and bigotry that fuel their actions. Juxtaposing these voices against haunting, meticulously composed imagery of Ukraine’s war-ravaged landscapes, Intercepted delivers a striking portrait of both resistance and complicity.

“I’m incredibly excited to partner with Lightdox in bringing Intercepted to cinemas across the UK and Ireland,” said INDOX Founder, Luke Brawley. “As we mark the third anniversary of the conflict and witness Ukraine’s future unfolding on the global stage, releasing Intercepted is more vital than ever and essential in understanding the true nature of the invading force. Lightdox has a remarkable track record of supporting bold, impactful nonfiction films, making this collaboration a perfect match and I look forward to working together to ensure powerful stories like this receive the recognition they deserve.”
