Submissions are open for the 12th ParisDOC Works-in-Progress, hosted by Cinéma du réel, running 26-27 March 2025. The deadline for submission is January 13, with an “early bird’ rate offered until December 15. The selection announcement will be made in mid-February.

Projects must be feature-length docs between final edit and the post-production stage, looking for theatrical, TV or digital distribution, festival premiere or sales.

The films in progress are selected according to their stage of production, their needs and potential in terms of international distribution, as well as dovetailing with the editorial line of Cinéma du réel.

Selected films in progress have the opportunity to be screened, once, in their entirety, on 26 or 27 March in Paris.

The professional audience is made up of carefully selected French and international experts, playing an active and strategic role in the distribution and placement of new films in the industry: festival programmers, sales agents, TV programmers, theatrical distributors, web platforms and exhibitors, organisers write. Each screening is followed by a discussion, which may take the form of an informal meeting.

“With a tailor-made offer, ParisDOC Works-in-Progress is a unique opportunity for project holders to reflect and build the right path for their film in a favourable environment, and for professionals to have exclusive access to new promising projects,” write organisers.

Projects selected for previous editions of ParisDOC Works-in-Progress include Peaches Goes Bananas! by Marie Losier (Venice International Film Festival 2024); Green Line by Sylvie Ballyot (MUBI Award and Junior Jury Award – Locarno Film Festival 2024); Guerilla des FARC, l’avenir á une histoire by Pierre Carles (IFFR 2024), Fragments From Heaven by Adnane Baraka (Locarno Film Festival 2024); Ghost Song by Nicolas Peduzzi (ACID 2021), The Earth Is Blue as an Orange by Iryna Tsilyk (Sundance 2020), Red Moon Tide by Lois Patiño (Berlinale 2020)…
