Sunny Side of the Doc, leading French market for documentary market and fact-based content, has appointed Mathieu Béjot (pictured left) to the newly-created role of director of strategy and development.
The role was created to support Romain Jeanneau, new CEO of Doc Services, the company behind Sunny Side of the Doc and Asian Side of the Doc.
Béjot began his career as an audiovisual attaché for the French Embassy in Canada (1988-1993), Hong Kong (1994-1997) and Japan (1997-2000). He then went on to join TV France International, the association of French television programme exporters, working as Executive Director between 2000 to 2018.
In 2019, Béjot created Connoisseur Media, a consulting company that focuses on promotion, marketing and co-financing strategy for quality content internationally. In this capacity, he works advises for the Broadcast Program Export Association of Japan.
The La Rochelle-based doc event, running 22-25 June 2020, stresses how its upcoming edition “will shine a light on which tirelessly questions the collective memory, explores the hybrid trends of the genre, introduces new narrative forms, extends the use of archival materials, and is still of interest to international broadcasters, SVOD platforms and distributors.”
