
The Thessaloniki Doc Festival has put out the call to podcasters from Greece and abroad to submit their podcasts for the new podcast competition section. The selected podcasts will be presented during the summer and hybrid edition of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, running from June 24 to July 4, 2021.
The deadline for podcast submission is May 14.
“Following the success of the workshops and the open discussion with the participation of top podcasters from Greece and abroad and the enthusiastic reaction of the audience, the podcast section of the 23rd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival moves to the next phase,” say event organisers. “The festival is one of the first to incorporate podcasts, the digital files that have taken over the world, into its program.”
The podcast competition is divided into two subsections: One for Greek-language podcasts and one for English-language podcasts. In each subsection, an award (accompanied by a 2,000 euro cash prize) will be bestowed from a jury composed of renowned audiovisual professionals.
For the podcasts to be considered eligible to participate in the podcast competition sections, they should be presented at the Festival as a world premiere and until the end of the Festival (on July 5, 2021) they should not have been uploaded onto any platform, whether publicly accessible or requiring of a subscription.
In the podcast competition section of the 23rd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival the following are eligible to participate:
• fiction podcasts
• documentary podcasts
• either fiction or documentary podcasts incorporating interviews into the narrative
In case the podcast submitted is part of a podcast series, it should make its world premiere at the 23rd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. The podcasts must be 20-60 minutes in length.
