“We at FIPADOC are firmly convinced that the experience of film in cinema is about conviviality and sharing; as such, we are delighted by the prospect of welcoming back festivalgoers and special guests in person to the festival to enjoy films in venues around Biarritz,” say Fipadoc festival organisers ahead of the upcoming onsite edition running January 17-23.
FIPADOC’s nine competition sections include International, Music, French and Impact. Dutch doc doyenne Heddy Honigmann is 2021 Guest of Honour and the festival will present additional focuses on Benelux documentary and the Taste of Doc section on matters culinary and gastronomic. Festival and Industry events will be presented on-site in Biarritz 17-23 January.
In total, 200 films will be presented to an audience of approximately 30,000 attendees. Fourteen awards will be handed out, including 4 Grands Prix within the main competition sections, deliberated over by 29 jury members. Main Competition selections are:

The festival’s non-competitive sections include Focus Benelux, a selection of films that highlight the creativity within documentary production within Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg), and a celebration of the work of Guest of Honour Heddy Honigmann. Other sections include Taste of Doc, with films concerning matters both culinary and gastronomic, a dedicated Family Films programme and an Arte 30th Anniversary tribute.
