This week the Thessaloniki Doc Fest ran a 3-day podcast workshop that embraced content and narrative techniques, examined the importance of sound and analyzed the format from a legal standpoint, focusing on copyright issues.

The 32nd edition of the FIDMarseille - Marseille International Film Festival has set a final deadline of March 31 for the submission of films produced in 2020 and 2021. The festival receives almost 3000 films annually for consideration.

The documentaries receive support of €149k, out of the €4.2 million total granted to seven features, three docs and two short films.

The Special Presentations programme features a collection of world and international premieres, award winners from the recent international festival circuit and works by master filmmakers or featuring star subjects.

The Echoes of the 2020 Ji.hlava IDFF will sound online from March 11 for audiences in the Czech Republic, before selected films are made available to viewers in Belgium (March 11-17), France (18-25) and New York (19-25). The “documentary spring” will offer award-winning films, discussions and masterclasses.

Appropriately, on International Women’s Day, four women were elected to the Documentary Association of Europe’s five-seat board following the association’s first official general assembly on March 8, 2021. The association was launched at EFM 2020.

27th Sarajevo Film Festival (13-20 August) will pay tribute to director Wim Wenders in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art of film. Wenders will be presented with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award and honoured with a retrospective of his selected works in the “Tribute to” Programme.

Close to 38,000 viewers attended online Glasgow Film Festival 2021 , remotely accessing ten world premieres (which included prominent UK and Scottish docs), three European premieres and 49 UK premieres.

The recipient of a new documentary award dedicated to the memory of Dimitri Eipides was revealed March 4 at Berlinale Talents. The grant of 5,000 euros, an initiative of Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, was given to Miguel Antunes Ramos for his project Dragons.
