The ‘So Many Stories Left Untold’ themed presentation, which runs January 14 to 20, presents 16 films across Lisbon venues, as well as talks and debates.

“Dimitri Eipides taught us how to watch documentaries, how to discover filmmakers. Cinema was his life,” say organisers of Thessaloniki International Film Festival, which Eipides formerly led. He also founded the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.

East Doc Platform, the co-pro, funding and distribution market for Central/Eastern European doc filmmakers, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF), will run online March 6-17, 2021. Selected projects also announced.

Jerry Rothwell’s ‘The Reason I Jump’ is based on Naoki Higashida’s book about his experiences as a non-speaking autistic person, written when he was just 13. The film is nominated in IDA Best Feature/Best Director categories.

Director Tiago Siopa describes his 'Ghosts: Long Way Home' as a farewell poem to his home town, a film in which he revisits the myths, folklore and superstitions he grew up with as a boy in the Portuguese countryside. The film world-premiered at Doclisboa 2019.

Six European docs to world-prem in Sundance World Cinema Doc Comp. Other Euro highlights include Edgar Wright’s ‘The Sparks Brothers’ and Kevin Macdonald’s ‘Life In A Day 2020’ (UK/USA), as well as ‘Seeds Of Deceit’ (Miriam Guttmann, Netherlands) in Indie Series.
