Gunda by Victor Kossakovsky
Victor Kossakovsky’s Gunda will compete in International Competition at the 11th La Roche-sur-Yon festival (France) for the €15,000 distribution first prize. There are further doc selections in Perspective and Special Screenings sections. The festival, which organises a programme of 70 French premieres, runs 12-18 Oct 2020.
The festival hosts three competition sections. The International Competition of 8 features showcases the ‘brightest in contemporary filmmaking’, complete with a €15,000 distribution award. The Nouvelles Vagues Acuitis Competition focusses on works that reflect the ‘continuous reinvention of cinema within the contemporary visual scene with no restriction on duration or genre’, with a €3,000 director award. The Trajectoires competition is for films across the different competitions, and ‘prized’ by high school students. This entails a €1,000 director award.

Every year the festival attracts approximately 22,000 visitors. In 2020 the fest is organising a retrospective of films by UK director Sally Potter.
