Film London announced 08 June a new London Screenings partnership with Doc Society, with Doc Society Head of Film Shanida Scotland to showcase a special presentation of Doc Society titles. In addition, Mia Bays, Director of the BFI Film Fund, will present BFI’s Work in Progress showcase. For the first time, there will also be a specific doc strand in the Breakthrough section featuring La Sagrada Familia, My Everest, The Oil Machine and One Bullet.
Mia Bays, Director, BFI Film Fund, commented: “As well as presenting the upcoming slate of fiction features supported through the BFI Film Fund at London Screenings, I’m delighted Doc Society will also be presenting their slate of BFI National Lottery funded documentaries. On the back of some really encouraging international sales activity at Cannes for our current slate – e.g Critics’ Week winner Aftersun (Charlotte Wells), the Palme d’Or winner and European co-production Triangle of Sadness (Ruben Östlund), and Charlotte Regan’s anticipated feature debut Scrapper – we look forward to enticing buyers and festival programmers with the diverse and dynamic projects we have coming down the pipeline, including Muayad Alayan’s A House in Jerusalem, Adura Onashile’s Girl and Moin Hussain’s Birchanger Green.”
Other completed or work-in-progress titles screening to international buyers in this year’s programme come from leading film sales companies such as Dogwoof, Cornerstone, Hanway, Film Constellation, GFM, AMP, Protagonist and Rocket Science.
Returning after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this year’s London Screenings takes place at Picturehouse Central, with thanks to funders Department for International Trade (DIT), the Mayor of London, and the BFI, and with continuing support from Film Export UK.
Helena Mackenzie, Head of Inward Investment and Business Development at Film London, said: “It feels great to be back! The London Screenings is refreshed, re-energised and raring to deliver an exciting programme for our returning international Buyers. Our new partnership with Doc Society has introduced some excellent new feature documentary titles to this year’s screenings, as well as the ever-popular BFI Coming Soon presentation. Plus, this year’s event will be the most sustainable yet, and will feature a diverse mix of talent and genres, reflecting our rich British film tapestry.”
