Dogwoof announced March 23 a slew of sales on two titles from their current slate; How to Survive a Pandemic (BDE review) by Oscar-nominated filmmaker David France and River by Jennifer Peedom, both of which screen at this year’s CPH:DOX.

Directed by Academy Award® nominee David France (How to Survive a Plague, Welcome to Chechnya) and produced by Mira Chang (Jesus Camp), How to Survive a Pandemic takes an inside look at the historic, multi-national race to research, develop, regulate, and roll out COVID-19 vaccines in the war against the coronavirus pandemic.
France’s new film is an HBO documentary Films production presented by Public Square Films, in association with Impact Partners, Sandbox Films, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Wellcome Trust and Sky.
Jennifer Peedom’s River, meanwhile, has been acquired by Movistar (Spain); Polyfilm (Austria); VG TV (Norway); Neo Films (Greece); VRT (Belgium); Polyfilm (Austria); and Nonstop Entertainment (Scandinavia, Baltics); previously announced sales include Greenwich (North America); Koch Films (Italy); Russia Report (CIS and Russia); Film Kino Text (Germany, theatrical); Filmarti (Turkey); Against Gravity (Poland); and ACFK (Czech republic and Slovakia). Dogwoof released the film in UK cinemas on March 18.
The film is described as an exploration of the remarkable, timeless relationship between humanity and rivers. Conceived as more than just a cinema documentary, the project is an orchestral concert film, an ode to the natural word and a retelling of the history both of rivers and human civilisation.
River is produced by Stranger Than Fiction in association with Arrow Pictures. A collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the film is a co-production with the Australian broadcaster ABC, the BBC, Dogwoof and Madman Entertainment. The project was commissioned by ABC and BBC Arts.
